Nikolay Zheludev is one of the founding members of the closely interlinked fields of metamaterials and nanophotonics that emerged early in the 21st century at the crossroads of optics and nanotechnology. He has received the Young Medal and Prize; the President’s Science Award, Singapore; the Leverhulme Trust Senior Research Fellowship; the Senior Research Professorship of the EPSRC; and The Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award & Fellowship.

Zheludev is a fellow of the European Physical Society, the Optical Society, the Institute of Physics, the American Physical Society, and the Royal Society. In addition, he is an international member of the US National Academy of Engineering. Zheludev will collaborate with faculty and students in the College of Science, the College of Engineering, and Texas A&M AgriLife Research.
