Jennifer Elisseeff specializes in engineered biomaterials, a broad class of designer synthetic fibers, gels, and other materials that can replace, repair, and, in some cases, regenerate human tissues that have been damaged by injury, disease, or genetic defect. She has made significant contributions to the development and commercialization of injectable, soft materials that promote tissue regeneration. In addition, her current research on understanding and controlling the immunological response to biomaterials is at the forefront of regenerative medicine. Elisseeff is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Medicine. She is a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors and the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers. Elisseeff recently received the NIH Director’s Pioneer Award.
Elisseeff will collaborate with faculty and students in the College of Engineering and the College of Medicine.
