Genomics in Veterinary Medicine

Genes responsible for most simply inherited traits of health and economic importance have been identified in common domestic animal species and genetic testing is commercially available and widely used by animal breeders. As in humans, however, there are challenges in finding the genes or genomic markers of complex genetic traits, i.e., those traits that are influenced by multiple genes as well as by environmental factors.
