Being a part of the 2013-2014 iteration of the HEEP Fellowship has been an eye opening experience for me. This opportunity has allowed for an exciting collaboration with one of the leading researchers in my field of process design, control, and optimization, Faculty Fellow Dr. Christodoulos Floudas. As a direct result of collaboration with Dr. Floudas, my advisor Dr. M. Nazmul Karim, and myself, I have been able to connect with other leading researchers from across the nation and across the globe, in particular through the presentation of our work at the 8th International Symposium on Foundations of Computer Aided Process Design in Seattle, WA, in July. In addition, our collaboration with Dr. Floudas will continue after the 2013-2014 TIAS Faculty Fellowship concludes, as he has agreed to be an integral part of my doctoral committee when he joins the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering in the spring of 2015.  This program has been a once in a lifetime experience for me and will be a great asset for me as I continue to progress toward a career in academia. I have a deep appreciation for the HEEP Fellowship and am proud to have been a part of this prestigious program. I look forward to seeing it continue to build strong relationships between established faculty fellows and promising young minds in the future.
